Micklefield Hall Wedding - Lucy & Chris
KIND WORDS FROM LUCY & CHRIS: "It was amazing to have you with us on our wedding day, it felt more like having another friend with us rather than a photographer. We were both pretty nervous about being the centre of things and you were such a calming presence. We are so pleased with the end result. It feels like you captured so many private moments between the two of us that we now have to look back on for years to come."There is something magical about Christmas weddings. Candle light, open fires, christmas trees and fairy lights are guaranteed to make everyone in attendance feel very festive indeed. I may be just a little bit biased because I got married in December myself, but still ...I have photographed lots of lovely weddings at Micklefield Hall over the last few years but never in December, so I was delighted when Lucy & Chris invited me to shoot theirs.Lucy was getting ready at their house a few minutes drive from Micklefield with her bridesmaids and family. The house was packed with excited bridesmaids and members of her family helping her to get ready. With so much going on, I found plenty of little moments to capture with my camera.I then made my way over to Christ Church in Chorleywood where the guests were starting to arrive. Chris seemed to have his nerves under control, in no small part due to his best men doing a great job keeping him distracted. I loved the moment I captured where one of them asked him to hold out his hands to check if they were shaking - they weren't!Lucy arrived at the church with her dad and bridesmaids who made some last minute adjustments. I managed to capture the second that she locked eyes with Chris for the first time - her smile couldn't have been bigger. As the ceremony started, he kissed her hand - one of my favourite photographs from the day. After the beautiful ceremony, the happy couple and I raced back to Micklefield Hall so that we could do some photographs in the grounds. We made the most out of our 20 minutes before it got dark. Lucy and Chris then joined their guests in the great barn for some amazing looking cocktails and canapés provided by Kalm Kitchen. The barn looked beautiful with plenty of festive touches including a Christmas Tree specially put up for the day. Everyone took their seats for dinner as each member of the wedding party was announced with hysterically written introductions by the couple. After dinner and speeches, the couple had their first dance whilst being showered by confetti. The guests then piled onto the dance floor and danced the night away, making the most of the hats and props the DJ had bought with him - great for the photos! There was a special cigar and whisky area set up complete with a roaring fire for roasting marshmallows. A perfectly festive end to a perfectly festive day.
